Special mention has to go out to the audio team, though, who deliver some of the best work out there. These drops are rarely bad enough to get you killed, but they're frustrating. Other issues include occasional but severe frame-rate drops. Multiplayer isn't terrible, and its state is forgivable in a game that's fundamentally focused on single-player, but we wish the resources that had gone into building the multiplayer had gone into storyboarding and scripts. But since the melee combat really only shines one-on-one, multiplayer fights essentially go to the pack versus the lone hunter. Multiplayer is flavor-appropriate, allowing mobs of the game's villains and heavily armed investigators to go head-to-head. The disjointed transitions from level to level don't help either, with vital story points being skipped, strange decisions being made, and the main character acting like someone we'd just as soon not play - he's really a jerk, and a dumb one. Some are revealed in Bloodshot, but the answers are so B-movie that they bring the whole game down. At some point there needs to some resolution for these points. Now we've finished the sequel and it promises answers in the next eventual sequel. Bloodshot doesn't manage to give any satisfying answers to the questions from the first game, with any answers you do get either being utterly mundane (such as the reason for all the dead birds) or just long versions of NPCs saying 'I don't know either.' In essence, Criminal Origins' story promised satisfaction in its eventual sequel. But the script doesn't come together, the combat still falls apart when you have to fight more than one guy at a time, environments get real repetitive, and the multiplayer couldn't be more tacked on.Д¬riminal Origins wrote itself silly, throwing out mysteries and occult hints without hesitation. It has the same strengths, and those strengths have even been improved. We'd have really liked to have seen more of the interesting forensics gameplay.Д«loodshot doesn't bury the issues of Criminal Origins, though. Unfortunately, these satisfying forensics moments are dramatically outnumbered by simple 'take the picture, press Y to send the picture to the lab' moments. These are looking at ancient tools and figuring out just how they were used on a human body. These aren't Sudoku these are looking at a blood splatter in a wall and determining its origin.

Rather than the too-simple crime scene puzzles of Criminal Origins, the majority of the forensics puzzles here are real forensic puzzles.
